The workshop aims to engage with current research debates within the context of the archival turn in the cultural and humanities disciplines. Newer perspectives on archives focus on questions surrounding the handling of the relationship between the past and the present through access to and the use of archives. Personal archives have gained significant importance in the art scene.
The workshop will focus on the opportunities and challenges that arise for visual archives in the age of global interconnections and entanglements. The aim is to bring together the predominantly theoretical debates and to provide new impulses on an empirical basis. Existing approaches will be expanded; research desiderata identified, and addressed using specific case studies. The workshop serves as a platform for transdisciplinary exchange.
