We are looking for a scholar willing to contribute a Key Topic (5000 words) on the Anti-slavery movement. Contribution to the entry "Anti-slavery Movement", Routledge Encyclopedia of Race and Racism

Edited by John Solomos, the Routledge Encyclopedia of Race and Racism aims to provide a constantly updated and comprehensive resource for both students and researchers who want to understand key concepts, methods, and topics regarding race and racism across the disciplinary fields of sociology, politics, history, geography, anthropology, ethnic studies and cultural studies.

The section Anti-Racism/Mobilisations and Resistance is edited by Alana Lentin and co-edited by Maria Elena Indelicato. The aim of this section is to provide the reader with an overview of some of the main themes and debates in antiracism from a global perspective. It combines longer pieces with shorter reflections and biographical entries to build up a complex overview. At the same time, the style of invited contributions reflects the objective of being accessible to a broad audience of academics, researchers, practitioners, and students working in a variety of disciplines where questions of race and racism are studied and analysed.

At the moment, we are looking for a scholar willing to contribute a Key Topic (5000 words) on the Anti-slavery movement.
Due to the nature of the project, writing this entry would entail drawing a broad picture of the anti-slavery movement across time and in relation to a geopolitical reality that the prospective author deems most important. It should also highlight the slave-led revolts and revolutions as well as the contribution of women and men leaders racialised as Blacks.

The deadline for the receipt of contribution is 31 Janury 2020.
