Global War, Global Connections, Global Moments
A century after the First World War, this conference wants to reflect on international relations and entanglements during the global conflict. The conference wants to challenge Eurocentric views and focus on the transnational and global face of the war. The conference will still deal with European theatres of war and inter-European entanglements.
The aim is to bring together an international group of scholars working on transnational and international fields and aspects of the war, such as diplomacy, rivalry between war partners, secret diplomacy or commemoration.

Confirmed keynote speakers are Prof. Dr. Annette Becker (Université de Paris Nanterre), Prof. Dr. Maartje Abbenhuis (University of Auckland, New Zealand), Prof. Dr. Fischer-Tiné (ETH Zurich, Switzerland), Prof. Dr. Hans-Lukas Kieser (University of Newcastle, Australia, and Zurich) and Prof. Dr. Christian Gerlach (University of Berne).
There will be also representatives of the Federal Archive (Berne) and the Red Cross Archive (Geneva) presenting.

Interconnexions et Guerre globale
(« Global War, Global Moments, Global Connections »)
Un siècle après la Première Guerre mondiale, ce colloque entend orienter les réflexions sur les relations et plus largement les interconnexions internationales pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. L’objectif est de dépasser l’eurocentrisme encore inhérent à l’historiographie de la Grande Guerre et d’adopter une approche globale et transnationale.
Le colloque prendra tout autant en compte les théâtres européens et ses interconnexions inter-européennes. L'objectif est de réunir un groupe de chercheurs internationaux travaillant sur des domaines transnationaux et internationaux, sur les aspects diplomatiques, la rivalité entre partenaires de guerre, la diplomatie secrète ou la commémoration de ces mêmes alliances ou rivalités.
