The IHC — Institute of Contemporary History (NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Lisbon) has an open call for applications for three (3) Postdoctoral Research Fellowships, funded by national funds through the Foundation fos Cience and Technology and MCTES (PIDDAC).

3 Postdoctoral Research Fellowships, Institute of Contemporary History (NOVA University, Lisbon)

The fellowship will have a maximum duration of three years, during which each of the fellowship holders must carry out a research project in the field of History, although they may also articulate History with other scientific fields. The project must be designed within the scope of Modern and Contemporary History, understood as the period between the present day and the end of the 18th century; but, once again, fellows may combine the study of this period with that of previous periods. The project does not have to be limited to the study of the Portuguese historical reality or the study of the historical reality of Portuguese-speaking countries. It is not mandatory for the fellows to have skills in the Portuguese language, but they should acquire them during the scholarship period.

The specific topic of the project will be defined by the fellows themselves in the research proposal to be included in the application, under the terms defined by this notice. The specific topic will have to be in one or more of the following fields: Economic and Social History; Economic History; History of Economic Thought; Political Economy. The project may also articulate the referred fields with others, namely: History of Social Movements; Environmental History; Science and Technology Studies.
Fellows will join the IHC research team, assuming tasks of scientific research and dissemination, namely: publication of papers in journals with international impact; submission of applications for national and international funding; participation in the organisation of research seminars. Additionally, fellows will join one of the IHC’ Research Groups and should participate in the activities of one of the Thematic Lines of the IHC current strategic plan.
