The Middle Ground Journal invites submissions of articles for a special issue of the journal on “Crisis and Recovery in World History,” the theme for the conference of the Midwest World History Association (https://mwwha.org) which is to be held September 24-25, 2021, both in-person and virtually.

Special Issue of The Middle Ground Journal: “Crisis and Recovery in World History"

The perspective that world history can provide on contemporary events is vital, and this theme is intended to invite presentations and discussions to the conference on how teaching and research in the field can offer perspective on the challenges of our own times. The journal will give extra consideration to articles submitted as papers to the conference. The deadline to submit proposals to the conference is May 15, 2021, and the deadline to submit articles for the journal’s special issue is November 30, 2021.

The Middle Ground Journal: World History and Global Studies (https://middlegroundjournal.com) (ISSN: 2155-1103), is an open-access, refereed, and nonprofit journal published by the Midwest World History Association. We do not charge fees of any type to authors, reviewers, or readers. Everyone, no matter where you teach, research and study, is warmly invited to contribute. We are the common ground shared by all who are committed to the studying and teaching of global studies and world history, broadly understood. In particular, The Middle Ground seeks to serve as the shared, common space between K‑12 institutions and colleges and universities.

The Middle Ground Journal is supported by Metropolitan State University and is published by the Midwest World History Association, an affiliate of the World History Association. We encourage membership in both associations. We gratefully acknowledge the generous sponsorship and logistical support from Metropolitan State University, Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA.

All inquiries about the journal should be directed to the chief editor, Professor Jeanne E. Grant, at CHIEFEDITOR (at) THEMIDDLEGROUNDJOURNAL (dot) COM. Please see the journal’s website for the submission guidelines before submission. Please note that because of the educational mission of the journal, your submissions and correspondence may be used to teach student interns. An important part of their education is in scholarly professionalism and confidentiality.
