The Editors of www.GlobalMaritimeHistory.com are seeking proposals for a new series of guest blogs, entitled “Disciplines and Maritime Studies”.

This series of blogs will feature discussions about the many disciplines and approaches to studying the maritime world.

We’d like authors to do some or all of the following:
- Identify and discuss their primary discipline. What it is, types of questions asked, sources used, analysis, arguments, etc.
- Provide some background on how they came to study maritime topics
- Describe the interaction between their maritime and non-maritime topics within their discipline
- Describe their project or projects
- Describe how other disciplines have influenced them
- Discuss how they engage with other disciplines and why, or, why they don’t engage with other disciplines as such.
- Discuss what they feel is the future of their discipline, especially pertaining to maritime topics.

Posts should be roughly 600 to 800 words long, however, that is by no means an upper limit. Images, graphs, charts and demonstrations of process and discipline are highly encouraged. We are especially interested in how the authors as individuals view their discipline, and how they practice it.

This series is by no means limited to the arts and humanities, and submissions are also welcome and encouraged from archaeology, museum studies, library science, social sciences, sciences, engineering and other fields.

www.GlobalMaritimeHistory.com is committed to improving the diversity and representation amongst its authors. As such, we especially encourage women, people of colour, first-generation academics, early career researchers, those who work in languages other than English, and those who are not currently employed in academia to contribute.
