On June 9th and June 10th, 2018 a student team of the Global History M.A. program in Berlin holds the fourth Global History Student Conference at Friedrich-Meinecke-Institut, Koserstraße 20, 14195 Berlin.
40 under- to post-graduate students from institutions in 18 countries are invited to Berlin to present their latest research from a global historical perspective and discuss the benefits and challenges of this approach to the discipline.
Professor Sebastian Conrad of Freie Universität's Center for Global History will give the opening lecture on Saturday morning while Sunday morning offers several workshops, inter alia one on 'Museum Making' and a workshop on the possiblities for history students to publish their research. In a final panel discussion, organizers and guests will debate how global history is taught and pursued in universities around the world.
The ten panel topics with student presentations are: Migration, Moblity, and Diaspora; Intellectuals and Academics in the Cold War; Regional Diplomacy and the Global Order; Capitalist Networks in Imperialism; Religious Encounters; Sex, Labour, and Empire; Nation and Identity; Interpreting Identity and Ideology; Circulating Art; Early Modern Encounters and Identities.
The conference is open to the interested public and free of charge. Audience members do not need to register but are free to join for any panel, workshop, or plenary discussion in which they are interested.
