The Migration Research Group will be hosting a multidisciplinary conference on recent patterns of migration from Central and East European countries. We invite you to submit proposals for papers dealing with new patterns of East-West migration in Europe. Papers should draw on fresh empirical research findings, or offer innovative conceptual or theoretical approaches. Central themes include:

• Determinants of migration decisions
• New patterns of mobility: circular, pendular, return migration
• Gendered analyses of migration from Central and East European countries
• The impact of EU enlargement on East-West migration
• The role of migrant networks in influencing migration decision-making

There will be a special geographical focus on Poland and Romania, but we also welcome papers on other Central and East European countries.

The conference intends to bring together researchers from different countries and disciplines to stimulate discussions within the community. Additionally, it is planned to publish the conference papers in a special issue of a refereed migration journal.

Deadline for the submission of abstracts: July 15, 2005
Decisions on acceptance will be communicated by end of July, 2005.

Deadline for the submission of full papers: October 30, 2005.
Both abstracts and papers should be submitted via e-mail to Ms. Iris:iris.mohr@hwwa.de
