Die Academia Baltica (Malente) lädt zu einer Nachwuchstagung ein, die dem Thema „Der Ostseeraum – eine multikulturelle Region im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert“ gewidmet ist. Die Tagung wird vom 1. bis 3. April 2011 in Sankelmark stattfinden. Sie soll jüngere Wissenschaftler aus den Ostseeanrainerstaaten zusammenbringen und sie zu einer Diskussion verschiedener Aspekte der politischen, wirtschaftlichen, sozialen und kulturellen Beziehungen im Ostseeraum anregen. Tagungssprachen sind Deutsch und Englisch. Zur Sprache kommen sollen Themen der Multikulturalität sowohl in ihren integrativen wie konfliktträchtigen Aspekten, der Nationsbildung wie der transnationalen Überwindung ethnisch definierter Milieus. Behandelt werden können in diesem Rahmen u.a.
- kulturelle Manifestationen von Ethnizität
- politisch/wirtschaftliche Kooperation und Konfrontation
- Fragen der Konfessionalität
- Urbanität und Ruralität
- sozialer Wandel und Gruppenmentalitäten
- Rechtsformen von Multikulturalität
- gewaltsame und friedliche Lösungen kultureller Konflikte
Darüber hinaus sind Beiträge willkommen, die sich mit der kulturellen Konstruktion von physischen bzw. mentalen Räumen beschäftigen.
Die Organisatoren der Tagung, Prof. Dr. Ralph Tuchtenhagen (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin), Dr. Konrad Maier (Nordost-Institut Lüneburg) und Prof. Dr. Karsten Brüggemann (Universität Tallinn) laden jüngere Wissenschaftler (Magistranden, M.A., Doktoranden und Postdocs) ein, die sich mit den oben genannten Aspekten beschäftigen und aus dem Ostseeraum stammen. The „Academia Baltica“ (Malente) invites you to a conference for junior researchers, dealing with the topic „The Baltic Sea Region – a Multicultural Region in the 19th and 20th Century“, which will take place at the Sankelmark Academy on 1-3 April, 2011. The conference will bring together younger scholars from the Baltic Sea Region states and wants to initiate fruitful discussions about different aspects of political, economic, social and cultural relations across the Baltic Sea Region. Conference languages will be German and English. We encourage especially those who deal with the issue of multiculturality in terms of its integrative and conflict potential or with nation-building and transnational efforts to overcome ethnic defined milieus. The conference is open for topics like
- Cultural manifestations of ethnicity
- Political/economic cooperation and/or confrontation
- Questions of confessionality
- Urbanity and rurality
- Social change and group mentalities
- Judicial forms of multiculturality
- Violent and peaceful solutions of cultural conflicts
Presentations dealing with cultural constructions of physical and mental spaces are also welcome.
The conference is being organised by Prof. Dr. Ralph Tuchtenhagen (Humboldt University Berlin), Dr. Konrad Maier (Nordost-Institut, Lüneburg) and Prof. Dr. Karsten Brüggemann (Tallinn University). Young scholars (M.A.- and PhD candidates, postdocs) dealing with the topics outlined above and coming from the Baltic Sea Region are encouraged to submit their proposals. Deadline for submitting a proposal is 31 January, 2011.
If your proposal is evaluated positively you will get an official invitation by the Academia Baltica. We are probably able to refund travelling expenses and will take care of board and lodging in Sankelmark. We are looking forward to receive you as our guests at the Sankelmark Academy.
