The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year, contingent on performance, position availability, curricular need, and divisional dean authorization.
Basic Qualifications: Doctorate or terminal degree in Jewish Studies or related discipline. The doctorate is required by July 1, 2025 and must have been received no earlier than 2021.
Additional Qualifications: Applicants are invited in any area of modern Jewish thought, broadly construed, including but not limited to philosophy, politics, or cultural history. We welcome applicants working both within and beyond Western Europe as well as those whose work connects modernity with medieval or early modern precedents. In addition, candidates should exhibit a capacity to teach and/or research on topics pertaining to the broader Jewish tradition and its classical sources as well as a concern to connect academic Jewish Studies with the discipline of Religious Studies. Facility with Hebrew is preferred. Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching is desirable.
