World History. The Department of History at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking applicants for a tenured or tenured-stream faculty position in world history (subject to budgetary approval) beginning fall 2010, with rank open. We seek candidates who can demonstrate strong training and publications in global historical studies, and whose research interests are cross-disciplinary, multiregional, and/or have varied time frames.
The successful candidate will work with other Pitt faculty members in regional centers of the University Center for International Studies and, through the newly established World History Center, help shape world historical programs and curricula and teach courses in this field at both undergraduate and graduate levels. We encourage applicants to demonstrate how their research and teaching will contribute to one or more of our graduate thematic fields: Atlantic History; Empires in World History; Gender, Ethnicity, Race, Religion; and Texts and Contexts.
