The second international theoretical and practical conference "Historian And His Epoch" in memory of Professor Vladimir A. Danilov will be held on April, 20-23 2009 under the auspices of the Institute of History and Political Science, Tyumen State University.

The objective of the conference is to consider the way a historical epoch influences the historian’s world-view, his/her research priorities, conceptual dominating ideas, theoretical and methodological preferences. To comprehend the autonomy of the historian’s personality, freedom of his/her scientific creativity is one of the major scientific problems.

The practical tasks are
- to impart the intellectual heritage of distinguished historians, who laid the foundation for scientific schools in capital cities as well as in provinces.
- to coordinate researches in the field of history of historical science.

The following discussion topics are suggested:
- time of history and time of historian.
- epoch’s challenges and renewal of the research praxis.
- historian in the face of the corporation.
- historian in Russia and in the Western countries.
- historian in the capital and in the province.

Please feel free to initiate a new discussion topic within the theme of the conference.
The participants are required to submit:
- an application containing the full name, academic status, degree, place of work, position, real postal and e-mail address, telephone and fax number
- theses for publication should be no longer than 5 pages, typed in Times New Roman font, size 14, single spaced, upper, lower, left, right margins – 2 cm, footnotes at the bottom of the page, continuous numbering of the footnotes
to the Organizing Committee by March 1, 2009.
