The Centre for European & International Studies Research obtained a top five rating (research of international excellence) in the UK’s last Research Assessment Exercise.
We are currently taking applications for bursary candidates to register for a full-time PhD, starting in October 2008. Candidates may apply for bursaries in any of these subject areas or disciplines:
• European Studies inc. Modern & Contemporary European History,
European Politics and Public Policy, European Social & Cultural Theory
• French and Francophone Studies
• English Literature
• Film and Media
• Modern Languages, Linguistics and Sociolinguistics
• Postcolonial and Colonial Studies
• Modern British History
• Women’s & Gender Studies

Support for three years is subject to satisfactory progress. Bursary awards include full fees and a maintenance allowance, which in 2007/8 was £12,300 per annum.
