The Centre for European Studies Research at the University of Portsmouth in England (rated top in the UK in European Studies in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise) is advertising a number of PhD bursaries.
We encourage applications in modern transnational or comparative European or world history. We especially welcome applications in the fields of European integration history broadly conceived, of International Organizations, and of transnational societal actors.
Two bursaries cover the fees and include a maintenance grant of c. 14,000 pounds p.a., one further bursary (same conditions) is linked to a history project on port towns, several further bursaries are fees only, but linked to a possibility for the selected candidates (whose native language must be French, but who need not have a language degree) to cover their living costs by teaching French in the Faculty. For more information see the CEISR website and the weblink listed in this bursary ad.
